DEVELOPING THE QUALITY OF FEEDBACK
PARENTS EVENING
One of the biggest issues identified with parents evenings is that parents only get verbal feedback, much of which they are (as anyone would be) likely to forget. They need a written document that can be followed to support their child.
One way to engage parents with formative feedback is to provide them with a pro forma, listing grades and indicting development point(s) that would help their child improve their performance in the subject.
Suggestions to further promote the impact of this “set piece” event included selecting examples of the students work, or even demonstrating the lack of it to parents.
I have reviewed the TES and such forms seem to be used widely at KS2, with plenty of examples available.
One example to include Secondary Schools, came from Kent LEA. It seems systematic, page 7 & 8 of the PDF linked below has ideas on a suitable forms and examples of how it could be used.

The form we envisgaed, at least the way I interpreted it, looks something like the one below. I will try to get this sort of thing used at SGS for the Y11 consultation evening, in January.
